We heard late last night (Wednesday 27 August) that our offer to buy Freeland Methodist Chapel was accepted.
This is wonderful news, and testament to all of you who supported and pledged towards this effort. For some of you, it’s been an eight-year marathon to secure this wonderful building for the benefit of Freeland. We thank you all—it most definitely could not have been done without each and every one of you.
Next steps
- Because we are still in a commercially sensitive period, we need to keep our bid amount and the total pledged confidential for the time being, but will share these when we are able.
- We will be embarking on the conveyancing process shortly and as many will know, this can take some time.
- As you will be aware from our communications over the past six months, we believe charitable status would be appropriate and advantageous, and are working towards that.
- We have scheduled a meeting for all pledgers, donors and interested parties for Monday October 6, 8-9pm in Freeland Village Hall to update you on some important aspects of the purchase process. Please do come along if you can.
